The San Mateo County Horsemen's Association (SMCHA), The WHOA Foundation Inc (WHOA!), and The Mounted Patrol Foundation (MPF) share a deep interest in the next generation of equine-motivated individuals. Together, we are committed to helping people further the interests of the horse community in their career, avocation, or equine-related goals.

This $13,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a high school senior who demonstrates exceptional dedication to equestrian pursuits and shows promise in continuing their education.

Eligibility & Requirements

Who Should Apply

High school seniors involved in equine-related activities residing in Bay Area counties.

Educational Plans

Applicants must be accepted to a continuing education program (college, university, trade school, or other educational programs).

Reference Letters

Provide 1-3 reference letters from teachers, counselors, or trainers who can attest to your equine involvement.

Transcripts

High school transcripts showing your GPA are required for your application to be considered.

Financial Need

Proof of financial need via FAFSA or equivalent documentation is required. Strong emphasis is placed on financial need.
